SPORT | Juventus cool RVP interest

Robin van Persie: Juventus claim to have cooled their interest in the Arsenal man
Robin van Persie: Juventus claim to have cooled their interest in the Arsenal man
Juventus have played down their interest in Arsenal captain Robin van Persie because of the Gunners' demands.

The Serie A champions have been widely reported to be among the favourites to sign the 28-year-old forward after he declared his intention not to sign a new contract at the Emirates Stadium.
But Juventus director Giuseppe Marotta told Sky Sport Italia he did not see great value in the proposed deal.
"A top player is not only judged by how much he costs," said Marotta.
"It can also mean a player who costs less but on the pitch shows an absolute value.
"Van Persie is a great player but Arsenal do not intend to lose him. And you cannot indulge in a player if the owners don't want (to sell).
"Talk of our real interest in him seems excessive to me."
One Premier League player who is heading for Turin is Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba.
Marotta added: "Pogba? He arrives tonight and he will quickly take his medical, then we will sort out the details of his contract."
The 19-year-old Frenchman was accused of showing no respect to United after refusing to sign a new deal and opting to join Juve instead.

Sport | Jovetic is worth €30 million - Prade

Stevan Jovetic - Fiorentina

Prade declare this after Fiorentina rejected an offer of €13m plus Alessandro Matri and Michele Pazienza from the Bianconeri for the Montenegro international, who has been linked with a new challenge in recent weeks.

"Jovetic will not be sold on the cheap" stated the Fiorentina Director, and insisted that his side do not want any players to be thrown into the deal as makeweights.

"The club's owners have told me that Jovetic is not on the market, but that there is an agreement which says he could leave if an offer worth €30m, with no players included in it, is made," Prade told reporters.

"If we are interested in Matri as makeweight? If Jovetic leaves, we will not get any player in return for him. We are the ones who choose the players who join the club."

That kind of comments make a clear road to Juventus that they out of the race for Jovetic, with general director Giuseppe Marotta admitting that his side will not meet the 22-year-old's price tag.

"Do Juve have €30m for Jovetic? That is a big request, but everyone is free to set the price they want," Marotta noted.

"That fee is difficult and for now we will not talk about it.

"Robin van Persie a dream of the fans? You need to have dreams and ambitions, but you also need to deal with the reality of the facts.

"We know what we must do, and this is the most important thing."
