1. Easy-to-surf and Simple Site Design: If your site is so difficult to understand by your visitors, search engine crawlers and robot will also see it in the same way and it will be difficult to optimize your site, which will hinder your site to get a good ranking on the website search engines.

2. Original Contents: Copied articles from other websites or blogs will absolutely affect your site reputation. Search engine will see you as a lazy fellow.
Any articles or post you get from other blogs and sites must be well modified and edited (not recommended to copy articles from other website) before posting it on your site and make sure you put a link back to the website you copied the articles or post.
You can do the best by reading and understanding the article then you post it on your site or blog with your own words as you comprehend the topic.
Short articles of 100 words or less is not an article as search engine optimization is concerned, try and post a long and reasonable articles (at least 300 words).

3. Create or Build Quality Back-links: Back-links are incoming links from other sites to your blog or site. Search engines look at the link from those site if they are reputable sites. Sites with .edu and .gov domains help a lot in site ranking. You can also get back-links by submitting articles to reputable article directories like:

GOARTICLES
Submit articles of at least 300 words that are genuine and real.
Remember to use it responsibly because if you overdo it, it may affect your site.
